Type A – These FIBC’s are made with no consideration for static electricity.
Type B – These bags carry a breakdown voltage of <6kv. Type B bags are permissible for dry combustible materials but should not be used in the presence of flammable solvents or gasses.
Type C – Type C FIBC’s are manufactured with fabric containing conductive threads. The conductive threads connect to each other as well as to a grounding point on the bag. These bags MUST be grounded during filling and discharging to prevent incendiary sparks, brush discharges and propagating brush discharges. These FIBC’s may be used in the presence of flammable powders, solvents and gasses.
Type D – This type of bag is manufactured from a fabric containing interwoven static dissipative threads to prevent incendiary sparks, brush discharges and propagating brush discharges. Type D bags do not require grounding but should not be used when the surface is contaminated with conductive products like water or grease.
